don’t mean to invalidate you, situation is fucked and I feel like that all the time.
however, what really helped is joining local mutual aids, or grassroots political groups (definitely not Dems and definitely not the Fascist party).
it’ll help you meet people who feel like you, and actually help people and yourself.
I’ve been trying to do this. National level seems untouchable, but at the local level I can volunteer, make friends, and help my neighbors
National government change will take time, but look at Mamdani, he’s the result of a DSA campaign, the media won’t tell you this. they want to to seem that NY is some crazy woke error. no, there are DSA chapters everywhere, they do great work and members usually work in many other projects you can inquire and join. And if you don’t like them for some reason there are other third parties you can join they do great work.
Want a Mamdani in your local government, you can actually do it.
The media wants us to be deep in a doomscrolling depression so we don’t do shit.

Talked to my psychiatrist intern yesterday about that, she just told me to not read the news until I feel better. So I guess I have to hope that Palestinians aren’t all dead by the tile I get better ?
Take healthy ways to deal with things. For me personally, talking to other people is really refreshing. If you can, organize either locally or via the internet (fediverse); the exchanges could give you new ideas for pathways forward or just distract you.
Also, i don’t want to tell you to “touch grass” but it really does help with mental health. Plants are magical.
Just be ready to help, that’s kind of all we can do sometimes. Be ready if and when the moment arrives to make a difference.
…also, if you’re an American, attending larger protests can be really nice. They reinforce that you’re far from alone.
