find new ways to enjoy or prepare fresh fruits and veggies, get cardiovascular exercise, bonus points if in the sun for vitamin d, avoid stress when possible, sleep 7 hours when possible, avoid smoking, alcohol in excess, and other substances that put strain on your body. take care of yourself emotionally and find time to be with people you love. drink water!

no one will be able to do all of these perfectly always and it is normal to struggle attain most or even any. but they are more precise and beneficial targets than “gain or lose weight” and they have much more immediate and noticeable outcomes :)

Conversely, though, remember that unhealthy nutritional choices can mess with your immunity, cause inflammation, and really screw with your day-to-day energy and sleep. Nutrition is always a story performed on a much more complicated stage than weight=calories in - calories out! (Though that equation is a good signpost that guides the plot.) To ammend even further: Health neither stops nor starts at weight in almost any case. Far better strategies for self care will instead look at:

    • Cardiovascular fitness (resting heart rate, blood pressure, etc)
    • Energy levels, blood sugar and sleep
    • Immunity, inflammation, stress

More broad attention to these three rough categories is going to be way more positive than worrying about the single metric of weight or BMI. Doctors may recommend a raise or lowering of weight, but for ALMOST EVERY person that’s only as a means to the end of improving one or more of the broader cardio, energy, and immunity mechanisms.

ah yeah that makes sense :) certainly a regional/language thing. from my perspective, the word more just means an emotional state in the same way anxiety is an emotional state. disordered behavior or insult is not implied unless it’s explicit.

yes and important to note this applies to other terms as well. non-disordered people can experience temporary depression, anxiety and paranoia. the clinical terms are related but should not be conflated. paranoia can occur to anyone who is going through paranoia inducing circumstances, like marijuana, sleeplessness, or an authoritarian capitalistic hellscape.

(there are terms that have no aclinical parallel, though, like OCD, dissociative identity, or intrusive thoughts. we all should be careful not to misuse these terms.)

    i do appreciate your sensitivity @Natanox@discuss.tchncs.de ! i think it’s just a bit misplaced. :)

i take issue not with that but with the random assertions that feeds are being kept separate :) here’s US and Chinese fans having fun in a post about American artist Chappel Roan!

Blocking you as well, thanks for letting me know you just like to argue.
