so there was some kind of casual study that showed people tend to take smaller bites of diagonally cut sandwiches. do not ask me to give a source, Dan Pashman mentioned it on his James Beard Award winning podcast The Sporkful.
Side note: The Sporkful is best known for its ongoing debate about whether or not a hodog is a sandwich
