We had a brief respite from 2021 to 2022

Mods on c/politicalmemes took down a post I made saying that it was not a meme (spam was what they called it, it was not spam). When I pointed out that very few of the posts in that community are memes, they banned me.

Anyway, be careful out there.

Edit: “report abuse” was the reason they gave for banning me. But, it was me reporting a few things that were not memes, like was done to my post. Rather than evaluating whether the reported posts were memes or not, they went on a power trip. Anyway, no idea why the mods of c/politicalmemes follow me around Lemmy. I didn’t even tag them here, and they show up. Powertripping, I guess. But, my point stands, don’t report things for not being memes, only the mod decides what’s a meme, even if they do a poor job at it. And, if you draw attention to that, they’ll ban you and stalk you on Lemmy.

Yeah — stop making me reset the god damn oven, microwave, and coffee maker every time the power flickers. At the very least my coffee maker has a small battery in it that seems to endure shorter outages, but if manufacturers aren’t willing to have a back up battery for this, then they should take out the god damn clock altogether. It’s mostly pointless— especially these days. My microwave is so tedious too — it asks the day, month, and year. Why does my microwave need to know the fucking date? It actually serves no purpose.

It’s because the “algorithm” looks at the average watch time and promotes content that people tend to watch to the end, so they incentivize creating content that has some punchline at the end, or that is just so confusing that you spend the whole time trying to figure out what is going on so you’re less likely to swipe away. If your mind can easily make a judgement about what you’re watching, you’re more likely to decide it’s something you don’t want to watch, and then swipe before the end. This counts against content in the algorithm.

As for parenthood, I’m guessing it is on some blocklist of words related CSAM. Parenthood is associated with children after all. It’s obviously a blunt instrument to block things this way and results in “false positives.”
