It’s nothing personal, just statistics.
It happens more often than you think ^^
I have two, one which is firstname@lastname.name and the second my internet handle which is jeena so hello@jeena.net
First hint is already on the FrontPage:
We do expect you to understand how to use email and how to configure your DNS to use our service
Second hint, the very aggressive way their documentation is written with big font, repeating and slight threats. See https://mxroutedocs.com/dns/dnsrecords/
Third one, their refund policy in the FAQs:
We do not offer refunds. Please do not sign up unless you are comfortable with your choice.
And there are quite many people writing about their encounters online with them, like:
And so on. If you can handle working in open source you can handle them too. They are very direct which is off putting for some people, but they care deeply about their customers.
oh yeah, I have my own domain since Uhm 2004 and have switched providers about, hm, six times without problems. I never delete emails either (spam I do) and just use Thunderbird’s drag and drop to move MA mails from one server to another.
https://mxroute.com/ if you need many different domains and email addresses but don’t need a huge amount of space, very cheap and just works.
But if you have issues the guys who run it are quite rough and brutal, so support wil be tough on you and expect you know a lot about protocols, etc.
Auto correct changed “it’s” to UT’s.
You need kind of a beefy server which is not worth it for one or two people. That is why I installed PieFed instead which does the same but plays nicer on a small VPS with fewer resources.
I thought WeeChat is the Chinese everything app?
I had a similar problem with Lemmy, UT’s not optimized for small instances.
I went with PieFed und am very happy with it.
This sounds good, the partner acceptance factor is always one of the biggest struggles. Technology is easy :D
I. Build a PC for video editing because it was becoming impossible to do on the laptop. I realized that I can use the GPU also to run large language models myself.
So this week I’ve been setting up ollama and Open WebUI to be able to move some of my queries I ask ChatGPT and ask them on my computer, even if I’m away.
This way I don’t need to send sensitive data to the USA and China. It works quite well but I only can use smaller models up to 14B because of the 12 GB VRAM my graphics card only has.
Hm, so you just used some cards to make links and icons somehow for that? But then I would need to replicate it on at least my dads and our instance.
Ah personalized ones, also a good idea
Actually I feel there are many very good suggostions here already like:
It’s more than I expected already.
How do you share your managed bookmarks with your wife, father, children, siblings?
I have everything in bookmarks but the discoverability of them in my browser is not very good for the rest of the extended family.
Is there a way to categorize the apps or is it just one list? I feel I have to many of them to have just a list.
Hm interesting, no icons and no status indicator. At the same time over time you probably got it into your muscle memory where to press quickly. It’s intriguing.
I think you will need to have a mix, not everything is S3 compatible.
But I also like S3 quite a lot.
Are there the same problems with Thunderbird as with Firefox?
