  • The place to protest this isn’t Google.

We need to have everyone propose a name change to the official body in charge of place names, the US Board on Geographic Names.

Unfortunately, one of the rules on name changes is “Changing a name merely to correct or re-establish historical usage is not in and of itself a reason to change a name.”

On the other hand, they also say “The most important consideration is local use and acceptance,” so the sooner we act, the better.

Not as bad as the IR touch screens. They had a IR field protected just above the surface of the screen that would be broken by your finger, such would register a touch at that location.

Or a fly landing on your screen and walking a few steps could drag a file into the recycle bin.

This is a legit argument. If the purpose of the killing is to intimidate other insurance companies, it’s terrorism, and almost all insurance companies have an exception for terrorist attacks.

It’s also why we shouldn’t be as upset when mass-shooters aren’t called out as terrorists by law enforcement and politicians. There’s insurance implications.

  • “Delay” and “Depose” were apparently written on the shell casings.

“Delay. Deny. Defend.” is a common health insurance company mantra about denying service long enough that people die so the company doesn’t have to pay for the Healthcare they’re entitled to.

Insurance pre-authorization for medical care should be outlawed. If a doctor orders a procedure, the insurance company shouldn’t be allowed to say “no.” But they are because our system is super fucked.
