I struggle to think of what that extremely secure infrastructure would look like. Are you imagining signing on an electric terminal and having a computer compare signatures at the time of sale? That seems like the most secure and still wildly insecure compared to a pin.

My experience with self checkout at Costco is very much that they still do 80% of the work if you have more than 2 things. Like they’re flipping things and scanning them in my cart and I’m just handling pushing buttons and paying on the touch screen. It’s kinda bizarre but not bad imo.
The real trick is they don’t have the weight sensor and cameras that flip out over every move. Like damn I told you I was putting 3 bags in the bagging area; they are not unexpected items.

You’re wrong about both paragraphs. It’s not the days that fall into the circles. It’s the activities you do on those days. So it’s not a normal day that’s world ending. It’s things you do on both kinds of days.
How so? One circle is things you do on a normal day. The other circle is things you do when the world is ending. And their overlap includes going to work. So you go to work on a normal day and on days the world is ending. And for some freaking reason that’s true; even if the world is ending, you go to work

I have some ikea pieces that I bought when I started grad school. They’re 10 years old, have been through 4 moves, and they’re still doing fine. Even better, I could move them myself without it being a huge strain. They aren’t high quality (which tends to seem to mean heavy and not disassemblable), but they’ve treated me pretty well.
Because everyone else uses “small, medium, large” and it’s annoying to have to switch when that’s something you commonly use. Whereas furniture lines often have made up or creative names because companies need some names to differentiate the 20 different dining room tables they sell. Other retailers might use “the classic collection” and “the modern collection” or whatever. But it’s not standardized like small, medium, and large.
Most consumers don’t buy their own routers. The only time I’ve helped people buy routers in the last decade is to get one you could install a vpn on. Looking at the wireless standards never crossed our minds.
Yeah. I’ve been able to do it since I was 10. It’s really easy. I can also fake my husband’s and siblings’. It’s also a pain in the ass to change your signature. So if someone learns to copy it (like say based on the signature that was literally required to be on the card), it’s much hard to change it compared to a pin (which should definitely not be written on the card).
