Ok, so Taylor Swift seems to get the billionaire hate here. I’m wondering, when it comes to successful artists, what’s the opinion on Dolly. She’s not a billlionaire, but she is worth several hundred millions, so it’s close enough. She seems to be beloved by almost everyone.

  • You’re perfectly right. And it’s not just about energy, which there is a lot of in oils and proteins too. In nature, the sweetest things you’ll get are different kinds of fruit - all packed full of vitamins, antioxidants, fiber and whatnot. And they’re seasonal, so if you don’t eat them right away, you’re going to have to wait another year. So our taste makes us eat as much as we can. Sugar, of cours, is cheating.

(I just happen to be on my way to buy some pastries.)

  • I think the ability to react to what life brings in a healthy way can be really great for you. I don’t think it’s bullshit.

But too often I hear this from people who are just trying to wave off the struggle of others. I know people who are scared to engage empathy when it comes to a person with serious bad luck. Perhaps they would be too devastated or it would remind them that they too could get unlucky one day.

So they blame the victim and say it’s in the victim’s head, the victim should try harder. And it makes them feel safe, because they, of course, have the right attitude. This way they also get rid of the feeling they should help the victim.

Those people make bullshit of this otherwise good advice.
