You didn’t seem argumentative to me at all. I’m genuinely happy to disagree about something and:

-just have it be civil

-no one takes it personally

-we find things we can agree on

I definitely agree that less plastic = better in general. But if you’re going to 3d print stuff, at least this is functional.

And I’m not here to argue. God it is nice to have a civil discussions on social media.

China has also mastered modern slave labor. That someone makes thier own replacement instead of ordering some small uncomplicated part from across the globe isn’t crazy, it’s self-reliant and smart.

But that’s, like, just my opinion man.

As others have stated, grapheneOS is a good choice, and it’s extremely secure.

Another option is murena’ eOS. If you live in Europe, thier store sells phones with the OS preinstalled, and if you don’t, the easy installer app works pretty well with most models.

But fair warning, I recently installed eOS on my wife’s old Samsung S7, and I ended up having to do the installation manually with adb (command line tools). So read up on the phone you want to use, some are easier than others.

The operating system itself is great, and allows for anonymous usage of the play store (free stuff only of course) as well as F-Droid out of the box. You can also add your Google account to get full play store functionality, but then Google starts getting your info again, albeit less than with standard android.

I care about privacy for the same reason you do. Actually I don’t care about my personal privacy bacause I’ve always been careful to not share too much with big tech companies, but I refuse to use products from amazon, meta, alphabet, apple, or microsoft (outside of work hardware/software) because of how they abuse their position of power over the poor.
