Nope, I’m getting the UMP redirect fail issue here.

Thanks for the heads up. I signed up for Futo Chat on Zulip and realized I didn’t mention the problem was on my desktop client (MacOS). However, through your link, I found the update for Android. I’m happy with it, so cheers for that. For those interested, the Grayjay announcement on the 17th was: “Hey everyone, we’ve been aware of playback issues for YouTube and have been working hard to fix them. This fix is now released on the stable channel (and requires an app update). We are aware that age-restricted, controversial videos, or other videos requiring login may not yet work.” We will work on this next week. The desktop release required for this fix will also be available next week. Here is the change log for the new mobile version 281:"
Edit: getting a UMP redirect fail issue on Android and can’t play YT. When turning off my VPN, it seems to have fixed the issue. (perhaps temporarily)
Hey, I paid for a Proton Unlimited package for the second year. After hearing that Proton CEO Andy Yen voiced support for the U.S. Republican Party, I wondered about the company’s direction. However, there isn’t clear evidence that a Trump administration would be anti-privacy or worse than the Democrats regarding privacy in the U.S. I chose the company because Proton AG is headquartered in Plan-les-Ouates, Switzerland, where its data centers are also located. Additionally, I selected the EU model when purchasing. They have over 110 servers and seem fairly fast compared to my experience with NordVPN over the years. Sadly, in the YouTube field, most of these IP addresses across its global servers have been flagged, and I’m pretty sure I can’t even post this reply on lemmy.world without pausing my VPN.
Grayjay is great and I look forward to some bug fixes in the next updates. Unfortunately, I also get YT blocking errors mostly when using a VPN (Proton). A side note, for some reason I can’t paste links into the search bar, this kind of throws my game off when switching from Freetube or other YT links.
Hey thanks for the reply, just been looking into it but wasn’t sure how to go about installing homebrew. I’m actually going about it now. Do I need to do a fresh install of Librewolf first, type the script in the terminal and I’m good to go?
I love LibreWolf but sadly on my Mac with the latest OS, Apple’s security measures regarding application notarization breaks the installation process.
I’m all for privacy, but I’m not all for using the comment section to talk about abortion rights. Sure there is some overlap, but the comment section here seems to show the ease of which the human psyche can get distracted, these tangential bickerings are the reason big data is so effortlessly steam rolling us.

Have you considered using a sandbox app such as Insular which is available on F-droid or Shelter.
Shelter creates a work profile, isolating apps installed in this profile from the mainland. Shelter has the advantage of supporting per-site data isolation with Android 13, which achieves the same goal as sandboxing.
You can isolate entirely your contacts from being seen by other apps if set up correctly. Furthermore, Shelter allows for a VPN only for the work profile, which is a useful feature for enhancing privacy.
I have used an app called island in the past, but sadly it’s been discontinued,it was great as it allowed a VPN both outside and inside the sandbox.
It’s great, I’m not sure if it can be tweeked like the FUTO speech to text app but it’s fast. I have had it miss a couple of words but that may have just been coincidence.
I’ve been trying out Searx search lately and preferred it over Qwant. From some quick research, I found that Qwant does not track your search history or create personal profiles based on your searches. Seems like good news meaning users can expect a certain level of anonymity while searching online.
However, and this is why I avoid it, it’s worth noting that Qwant does share some data with Microsoft, particularly regarding ads and search results. This includes sharing your IP address and browser details for fraud detection purposes. Personally, sharing IP information with Microsoft isn’t something I’d want in a search engine, as it raises concerns about how much user data is still being shared despite their claims of anonymization.
