Every time I make them put their shoes on. Make them do their homework. Eat their vegetables. Be home at a certain time.
Parenting is all about violating consent. Children get input, not veto rights.

SaltSong@startrek.websiteto Today I Learned@lemmy.world•TIL: The Korean War was Actually a Genocide Committed By the United States in order to “Contain Communism”English5·1 month agoI have no comment on weather the Korean War was a genocide. I don’t know enough about the topic.
Your statement, that I replied to, was “Nothing in the community rule say that the content should be about established facts”
SaltSong@startrek.websiteto Today I Learned@lemmy.world•TIL: The Korean War was Actually a Genocide Committed By the United States in order to “Contain Communism”English5·1 month agoThat is what I understand. But that is not meaningful in this case. Speaking purely hypothetically, there is no reason that the US could not take advantage of North Korean aggression as an excuse to commit the genocide that the article accuses them of.

But if I, a 30 year old want to fuck a 17 year old, would I not also be called a pedophile? But if an 80 year old wanted to fuck me, he wouldn’t be?
Define your terms of you end to be ableto communicate.

It’s absolute crap Star Wars, though.
SaltSong@startrek.websiteto Privacy@lemmy.ml•That groan you hear is users’ reaction to Recall going back into WindowsEnglish0·3 months agoI thought the whole point of Linux was that there was one for everyone? A computer itself is an incredible potent tool, but most people just want to use Facebook and YouTube.
SaltSong@startrek.websiteto Privacy@lemmy.ml•That groan you hear is users’ reaction to Recall going back into WindowsEnglish0·3 months agoHow’s that working for you? I’ve got a surface, and I like it, but I know that Windows is not exactly an efficient piece of software.
Unless you have a keylogger installed.
Some people just process these things better by forcing themselves to put them into words. Journals, for some people are not written to be read, but to be written.
I was like they in high school. Wrote out my thoughts. Lose-leaf paper in my binder with me other school stuff, so they didn’t survive more than a few months. But the writing was the point. No-one was ever going to read them, not even me.
if you have legitimate concerns about the government coming after you, you simply do not keep a diary. At all. Not even one where you promise not to write anything incriminating.

SaltSong@startrek.websiteto Today I Learned@lemmy.world•Today I learned hyphenated words are largly obsoleteEnglish11·3 months agoSome of those I’ve never seen hyphenated in 30 years of being an avid reader. And some of the corrections I see listed, I’ve seen used the other way.
But I’m sure they read more broadly than I do.
I’m familiar with both of those words. Ok also familiar with the idea of a lever-arm, and this one is too long for my sense of safety.
