I think this is because he was still learning how to act and taking it seriously.
In his later classics, he had developed his persona, which included maintaining his Austrian accent that was so key to his brand.
In a sense, he now mainly plays that character, and any other roles are seen through that lens. But with Conan, he was more flexible of an actor.
It really doesn’t help that most people use /s not when they’re being sarcastic but when they are mocking those with opposing views.
Unfortunately it’s hard to employ such mockery in text as you just end up repeating the arguments you’re trying to refute.
I’m always amused at the downvotes it collects. People hammering a button to acknowledge their dislike of something they are choosing to not block.
My only problem with these bots is that I don’t want them counted toward comments - I hate going in to find the only comments are bots.
I’m 50. I was playing M:tG back in high school. Revised was the unlimited set out at the time. I thought they were overdoing the expansions back then.
Now it all seems remarkably silly to me with all the licensed stuff, and I’m glad I gave it up 30 years ago.
It was fun at the time but now it’s too exhausting to keep up with.
