Some of my 4k videos, especially drone footage refuses to play smoothly in vlc, I couldn’t be arsed to find out why, it’s just annoying.

14·13 days agoThis year, iRobot launched an entirely new line of robot vacuums … adding lidar navigation to its line for the first time (over VSLAM).
Reminiscent of all the other failed tech companies that refused to implement better/newer tech.
I wouldn’t get one without lidar.

51·21 days agoAh yes, that’s why they make apps unavailable for older devices with no way to install them besides some iTunes hack that I’m not sure works anymore.

We just need to wipe out all the animals and forests first, but we’re on track for everyone to have their own real soon tho.
Yeah… Pretty much what I said here https://lemmy.blahaj.zone/comment/15882610
Sorry you have to deal with this bullshit.
Okay sweet!
It’s made by people who’ve never had to do customer support.
If you’re rating people, then it’s better that you just don’t rate if they did a good job. Because corporations only see 4 and 5 as good, everything else is bad. So you rating someone’s good performance as 3 just hurts them for doing a good job.
I worked for AWS for a few years and one of our performance targets was customer correspondence rating, we had a target of 4.67. That means anything below a 5 brought you under the target. You also got to have a meeting with a team lead and quality lead for anything rated 3 and below.
Unfortunately this idea that open source is free is a bit toxic in a way. It’s definitely not free to make, it takes years of dev time, and sure, those people often do it without any compensation. And therein lies the problem. People here bitching about jellyfin not doing x or y, but doing nothing to support full time development of it’s creation, then shitting on the devs for not having a perfect product, leads to good devs leaving OSS behind.
Edit: I’ll also say, I get the issues that come with proprietary software in the modern age, especially anything online, but there’s almost this push towards not paying for software. Because some software is free and open source, paying for closed source software makes you a rube or something.
