  • Because we forgot optimization in a world that celebrates maximalists and constant upgrades to feed shopping addictions that make people feel more in control of their space in a world with less and less opportunities for self determination.

When I remember I was the cool kid for having a 4GB flash drive that could fit all of my call of duty game and homework and I look at the 560GB games now that aren’t even as fun to play I think we have made some mistakes along the way that instead of prioritizing the experience of life we prioritize the ease of it.

  • Ahh man it’s been on the rewatch list for some time and like there is like 20 different disasters happening on earth in that movie. I don’t know if they specifically call it out but I mean wildfires, blights, and shutdown of governments… It feels like the reason they don’t call it out is why bother at that point.
But you might be right that they just call out symptoms and leave it at that. It’s shockingly anti science while on earth.

  • It’s not a fictional disease. They stopped crop rotations as the soil became too fucked up so everyone is using the same GMO corn but because they are identical they are susceptible to the same disease and it can spread rapidly.

This has happened to lots of crops like bananas and is currently happening again.

The beginning of the movie is people trying to just play their baseball game around a sandstorm getting annoyed at scientists for telling them the world is ending to the point where NASA is in hiding.

Not fictional. Likely reality without the, us getting lucky enough to shoot McConaughey through a wormhole bit.

  • How original we talking?

I have seen The Substance (good) in theaters and I saw the TV glow (hated it). I also watched Megalopolis (weird) in theaters and if we want something really original I even last year watched the Onyx the Fortuitous movie in theaters (enjoyed the heck out of it)

I will likely watch Nosferatu in theaters and any smaller movie that puts the effort in and deserves my money.

But I am not paying for the movies that they make just to make money. I don’t reward that kind of bad behavior and that afront to art and story telling.

Yeah this post was a shit stirrer for people to get an easy hit of emotional payoff.

I also want this place to succeed but people spending every day lamenting the way that other people are living doesn’t make this place feel inviting. And there will always be idiots and people being bad about something or another.

I hope you find yourself doing stuff you enjoy or makes the world better instead of just hunting down all the ways for it to make you feel worse.

  • Yeah that schadenfreude and specifically that quote of saying specifically about voting. That smug apathy where you giggle at other people’s misfortune because they might have had it coming is the one that horrified me and I think is the unpopular opinion I have.

No. That’s gross. It makes you seem dishonest.

If a person gets pushback and punishment for what they have done that’s fine but people just living a life where they generally get hurt and it’s excused away as a location or ideology that makes it ok to point and giggle? An actual after the fact giggle is fine but this is searching for it and self serving. I just think it paints people ugly.

  • They actually also made the go and a literal gaming cellphone at this time. I think they were trying to move away from the disks (they were up against the DS) and tried lots of things but put all the money in the hardware instead of the games.
Cause they are like Nintendo when you look at their main consoles.

It’s a great piece of hardware. Truly impressive and worth being praised for it but it failed super hard. And it’s not they didn’t keep up they just didn’t use enough of the budget to pay developers to develop the games, and thought people would just be excited about the hardware like they were.

  • They could play PSP games big issue was buying them again and not being able to download them on the unaffordable memory.

If it had games constantly coming out like the switch did when it first launched it would have been very similar. And if it had storage that was affordable doubly so.

Instead it had the pricing of full consoles for games and few of them from the development costs. Sony failed to bring the games Nintendo does and that killed it far worse than a lack of a spinning disk drive that skipped if you shook it hard enough.

  • My sister is a drug abusing, money stealing, whore. I use all those words correctly as I mean them literally and so would she. She finds places to live by sleeping with people and will rob people for food. But she would rather be on the streets than live with me but without her drugs.

I will still always be there for her when or if she changes her mind and wants to get better. I don’t involve myself with her troubles because I don’t have to, and I don’t chastise her needlessly for her actions and inactions cause she is likely aware of them at this point.

I can’t fix her problem for her but I don’t refuse the option to.

I live every day knowing in the back of my mind what she is going through and I will always care cause I hope she gets out of it. Her inability to solve the problem doesn’t make me care any less or more likely to stop trying if given a chance to fix the problem.

Not every problem is immediately solvable and sometimes the best we can do is keep moving forward but it shouldn’t change how we care about others. Even those that raped me I don’t treat different I just don’t interact with them. They are responsible for their own problems that doesn’t mean I cheer for their falls.

  • No no… They have a point.

I love my PSP. Best console ever. But the vita could do all of it and more.

    • dual touchscreens
    • OLED screen
    • no disk drive
    • AR camera setup
    • cell data and fast wifi

It just also was so powerful that game developers didn’t want to put the effort in but not powerful enough to straight port games to.
It had solid state storage that was proprietary though that was overpriced and impossible to find.

So no games to support it. No sales to bring down production costs…
It floundered hard. But as my emulator handheld with mods to let it take SD cards it’s easier to pull out than almost anything else and a catalog of PlayStation games and more… It was an upgrade just Sony failed it.
