mirrors don’t really show you candidly in profile too, you gotta bend weird to see the side of your body and you can’t really see the side of your head. I think it’s also been hijacked by christian and muslim fundies in recent years. at least I’ve noticed a religious flavor to a lot of it and when you look at the profiles of people pushing it they’re often active in those groups.
