It is reverse gambling.
Reddit refuge
It is reverse gambling.
Websites on webrings used to have ads too.
And there is some classism in enforcing the idea that these kinds is websites have to be self hosted with the cost borne by the admin only. Not everyone around the world has the combination of money, time, and computer access to self host.
WotC has been royally fucking up Standard for the past few years, but I don’t think that Commander is the problem.
The problem is that WotC wants to push more product, which is messing with how Standard works. They should just accept that there are four standard sets a year, choose the most thematic Universes Beyond set to be a part of Standard magic, and accept that some Universes Beyond product shouldn’t be in Standard Magic.
Lemmy is good for the size. It took a while for Lemmy to adjust to its current scale, with major instances having uptime issues.
If we keep the servers up, there is still issues with spam and moderation. We don’t have the tools that Reddit built and I expect further pushes towards defederation as the standard for users hasn’t been developed.
Because Lemmy is nowhere near as ready for primetime as other platforms.
They are waiting for India to rename themselves to Bharat so Pakistan can claim the name.
I was waiting for something like this to happen. I’m not surprised it happened to world, mainly because it ended up as default.
He was chasing status no matter what, something that is a common thread throughout most of the Vacation movies. Him hosting for Christmas is part of that status chasing.
Acts of God get companies out of a lot of financial burdens, so there is a financial incentive to continue labeling climate related natural disasters as Acts of God.
That said, insurance companies know the odds on events and are pricing in the risk of climate change even if they want to keep the worst instances as Acts of God.
I feel like that is more of a reflection on how audiences can critique a film beyond which parts were good and bad.
Critique of cinematography requires an understanding of visual arts. Critique of sound design and scoring requires an education in music. In contrast, methods to critique characters and plot are taught in every high school literature class.
You’re likely hitting a point where the level of protection is very expensive yet spending the money isn’t politically popular. That Trump has had multiple attempts on his life recently and there hasn’t been an increase in funding speaks to the lack of political will.
This is a significant problem on Reddit as well.
There needed to be resources and admin actions devoted to keeping disagreeing groups separate for the respective health of their communities.
Even then, it is a common practice to outright ban people from some subs if they participated in other subs as participation in one sub likely meant they would be disruptive in the other sub.
I feel like the Internet doesn’t have that fuzzy but between public and private spaces like real life does. Some people want their public space to be like a Marxist book store on a side street to a Main/High Street. Sure, people can come in to read the literature and talk about the books there. However, if someone comes in wanting to discuss the merits of Ayn Rand, they are probably going to be kicked out.
I would think that it might not serve a government purpose, but it could serve a social one.
For a lot of societies, care of the elderly is supposed to be performed by the children. A marriage has the implication that care isn’t just for their own parents, but the in-laws as well. I expect a divorce like this servers that familial connection, people no longer have to care for their in-laws.
There was a disagreement on how to pronounce Arkansas; the first two US senators from Arkansas disagreed on how to say it.
Congress ended up having to request the Arkansas legislature in defining how to pronounce the state name.
Upvotes and downvotes don’t mean as much here.
All social media is just reposting from other social media sites.
Eh, I look at it as a relief valve for humanity.
