Reading the article it seems less like the egg is making a choice, and more like the egg is more attractive to some sperm than others and that causes them to swim faster and in a straighter line to it.
Or when the current CEO wants to do some shady shit, they resign and they bring in someone just to take the fall. Then the “good” CEO comes back.
Well, it would be happier if at least one side catered to voters as opposed to billionaires.
That said, it’s not the fault of only Harris and her campaign, it’s the Democratic leadership from the past 20 years that allowed it to get this bad.
They don’t need to.
They only have to remove your personal data. So the company / AI model is not allowed to have data specifically on you, but it can have the average age of people living in your town even if your data contributed to calculating that average.
That said, Apple here never had affirmative consent, so they can’t get away with just doing this.
Not saying that it shouldn’t be illegal and it’s shady as fuck, but GDPR opt-outs are usually retroactive, meaning you can remove consent from data they’ve already processed, and they have to retroactively scrub your personal data out.
They make you pay for some codecs, it might have been that.
The US is not a uniquely bad country TBH. Just another shitty one in a long line.
Aviation uses nautical miles across the western world.
And the whole of Eastern Europe
Most people on here don’t mind being exposed to different viewpoints. If you ask me, even some - or even most, IDK - tankies are fine to talk to, even argue with, as they are usually civil.
The problem is that there are a lot of users on the *.ml instances who are not interested in debate, they just keep repeating the same 2-3 slogans over and over again in smug superiority as a reply to everything, and mods ban people randomly the same way.
When you meet some users who reply “you are misled by Western media” to anything you say as a final and incontrovertible argument, that’s not a good faith debate I’m willing to participate in.
The problem is not the differing opinions, but the differing norms for polite conversation and good faith arguments.
In my part of the world, the receipt proves that the sale was entered into the tax record, so the seller is not cheating on taxes by understating revenue.
Not in the US, not yet.
In a Russian style society, money means jack shit against actual power.
Imagine Murdoch arguing with Trump, trying to bankroll another party to rein him in, with it ending in him selling all his news outlets and retiring.
The point is that money doesn’t get you political power in this system.
Look at Russia’s oligarchs. Hell, look at Hungary.
There was this one wealthy guy bankrolling Orbán’s campaigns, one of the wealthiest people in Hungary. He got into an argument with Orbán publicly. Today he’s neither wealthy, nor living in Hungary.
The people will not turn on rich people. I’m saying rich people are used to be controlling politics, but in a Russian style system, rich people are controlled BY politics, not the other way around.
I wonder how quickly will the US progress from Elon Musk prancing around on stage to Trump Jack Ma-ing him, or if Bloomberg will commit suicide by six shots to the back of the head.
The golden age of the US oligarchy has been this past period. Under fascism, the causal relationship between having power and money reverses.
Thanks for your service, unironically
