  • Yup, you’d be surprised what you can accomplish with 10gb of VRAM and a 12b model. Hell, my profile pic (which isn’t very good, tbf) was made on that 10gb VRAM card using localhosted stable diffusion. I hate big corp AI, but I absolutely love open market and open source local models. Gonna be a shame when they start to police them.

To OP: The problem is that they’re looking for keywords. With the amount of people under surveillance these days, they don’t give a rat’s ass if you went to your favorite coffee roasting site, they want to find the stuff they don’t want you to do.

Piracy? You’re on a list. Any cleaning chemical that can be related to the construction of explosives? You’re on a list. These lists will then tack on more keywords that pertain to that list. For example, the explosives list will then search for matching components bought within a close span of time that would indicate you’re making them. Even searching for ways to enforce your privacy just makes them more interested.

So then you put out a bunch of fake data. This data happens to say you viewed a page pertaining that matching component. Whelp, that list just got hotter and now there are even more eyes on you and they’re being slightly more attentive this time. Its a bad idea. The only way you’re getting out of surveillance, at least online, is to never go online.

In reality, they probably won’t even do anything about the above. What they really want is money. Money for your info; money to sell more things to you. They want the average home to be filled with advertisements tailored from your information. Because those adverts make those companies money, which they then use to buy more information to monetize your existence. Its the largest pyramid scheme known to humanity, and we’re the unpaid grunts.

The moment the world became connected through telephones, cable TV, and then internet this scheme was already in motion way beforehand. Let’s be honest, smartphones were the motherload. A TV, phone, and computer you always keep on you? They were salivating that day.

  • Fonts are a big one and can be a very descriptive fingerprint.

There are applications out there that muddle your installed fonts by making it look like you have a ton of fonts you don’t actually have.

But yes, they can see what fonts you have and can tell your OS and other computers you may have used if you’ve downloaded the same third party fonts for all of them.

If one of those computers was known to be yours at one time, then even if you lock away your identity later on another PC your fonts can give you away.

So I’m not the best at this, but this is my best guess (I have no experience in sysadmin, as I’ve only ever been the sole user of my PC and prefer not to network anything).

Owner #1, smackyboi, has ownership of a file called smutgame.AppImage. This means they can choose who accesses smutgame, if it can execute, if it can be read or written by certain groups, etc.

Owner #2, luvurealgood, on the system via their own account (or networked computer in the case of server storage) can’t change these settings unless smackyboi says they could, because they’re the owner and can add luvurealgood to the admin group for the file if they want. Smackyboi suddenly writes, sudo chown luvurealgood smutgame.AppImage.

Now luvurealgood owns that file and can make every change they want to it, including removing smackyboi from accessing it, as they’re no longer the owner. They can lock down the file and forbid it from being executed, etc etc. I believe anyone who is in the admin group of that file can do anything to it as well, except change it’s ownership if its already owned.

This is just from pieces of info and my tiny experience in Windows sysadmin shenanigans. Someone swoop in and correct me if I got anything wrong.

No, you tell them “Guess!”, all excited like you know they’re going to love it. “Just guess! I bet you’ll get it right away.” Then jump on the first guess and congratulate them with a “Surprise!”, even if you hate the answer.

I saved the best of my VHS for a long time. I couldn’t get them for a while as I was moving around. The boxes were in a flood, but the tapes were at the top. Unfortunately, my yearbooks were at the bottom. Anyway, I finally got them out of my mom’s basement where she’d been holding them for me. This was a couple weeks ago.

I was excited to see all those old movies again, but unfortunately I noticed on second glance that the film inside the tapes were either spotted white or completely white. That was the day that I learned that VHS tapes could actually rot. Its a shame…

  • Ich habe vier Jahre auf Deutsch gelernt, aber mein Deutsch ist sehr schlecht.

Honestly, I couldn’t even remember if Deutsch was feminine, masculine, or neuter… but my pronunciation has always been spot on at least. I should just pick it back up, it’d be mostly vocab grind for me at this point. But I last learned years and years ago… dang, almost 18 years now.

  • I’m poor as all hell. Like I said, my adult teeth have always been fragile. My mother was mid-class and worked a lot of OT at the local mill. I think the dentist smooshed her into getting a gold one. I vaguely remember him saying that it was the overall longest lasting, since I was so young and I’d need it all my life. I guess in his defense I’m mid 30’s now and never had a problem with it, so he could be right?

My left front tooth (the one between my actual front tooth and canine) is actually a cap that I can’t even afford to get finished. It’s been on for two years now. Basically covid hit and the dental office I was in went under. Then there was a 100-person waitlist to find ANY dentist in my area and I’m still waiting… Not to mention I’ve been laid off…

So yeah, I’m just as broke as most of my generation, lol.

  • A long time ago, around 15-16. I was frequenting the dentist and they said it would be no problem.

I actually had to have my molars removed. Soft teeth in the family and bad childhood antibiotics have made my teeth very fragile. The dentist said my wisdom might move to my molars and they did.

Now both my bottom molars are actually my wisdom teeth. Another cool thing, because my adult teeth have been fragile all my life, their roots have grown up to my cheekbones to compensate. My x-rays are wild. I have the longest roots my dentist has ever seen.

Edit: Also not so cool. I had a root canal and it took 4 hours.
