I struggled with your exact same problem when I moved to Linux. For the record, the reason why there isn’t a Program Files x86 is because the way that Linux stores programs is different from the way that Windows stores programs. Windows sorts its system files by programs, so that the configuration, launcher, and software files are all together. Linux sorts by file type, so that the configuration files of all programs are together, the launchers of all programs are together, etc.

What I’ve come to learn is, don’t bother trying to find your application in the folder. The best way to install things is through Discover (or whatever GUI software manager you’re using). If the program you want isn’t there, it’s basically a crapshoot whether installing from the internet will work or not

1. The apartment only recently became available to rent
2. Bateman notes that the paint on the walls is still fresh, barely dried
3. Bateman notes that there’s a lot of potpourri laid out, as though to cover up a smell
4. Iirc the furniture was also brand new
5. The landlady immediately knew who Bateman was and asked him to leave

I imagine it must be some other mechanism of action? I find it hard to believe that the CO2 in that bit of coke could cause its stomach to expand to the point of explosion, but it does seem likely that there are some other ingredients in soda that are very harmful to birds

Asterisk means that the word has been reverse engineered without any direct evidence backing it up. All proto languages will have asterisks in front of all their words because proto languages are, by definition, languages that were used before anything was written down.

The reverse engineered word is likely to be correct (or at least, as correct as we can be), but in the absence of direct evidence, it’s still just guesswork

The numbers you’re talking about are because we know that there are different consonants used, but we don’t entirely know what sounds those consonants are. So we just write all of the consonants that likely sounded somewhat like the letter h as h1, h2, h3, etc., and repeat for the other uncertain consonants.
